Vernon and Reggie head back home for a ceremony recognizing Vernon and his football achievements. Reggie being the good manager that he is, is worried about returning home because whenever they go back home, people expect handouts. Their former principal takes them around campus and hints that they may need a donation to help improve the school. The principal does a great job tugging at their hearts and emotions to eventually get Reggie to let Vernon donate a small amount of money back.
At the ceremony with the whole school present, Vernon is enamored by the love and decides to make a much larger donation.
It's important to know when you go into situations where you may be expected to make a donations or help out, you have a pre determined amount of money you will spend and an answer to why you can't spend more or any at all. Whether you go back home or check back in with old friends, these circumstances can create situations of emotional blackmail where you feel inclined to help when in reality, you don't have to. In this episode, Reggie is mad because he knew something like this would happen and he did all he could to prevent but Vernon wasn't disciplined and ends up spending way more than budgeted.
