Team Frugal: Jeff Attinella

Being frugal is about more than being stingy with your money. It means being prudent, smart, and economical with our finances and career decisions. Every Tuesday, we share profiles of athletes that exemplify what it means to be A Frugal Athlete.

In honor of national reading month, Jeff Attinella is a great example of an athlete that has combined his passions in hopes to build a legacy and leave an impact for others to follow. His passion for sports, reading, and connecting with his daughter led to the creation of his own publishing company, It Had To Be Told. HIs company writes children’s books on the great sporting events from the Chicago Cubs curse ending World Series Win to Lebron James’ title back home in Cleveland

As we all know, sports and the art of storytelling will always grab the attention of people especially children. There is something about the hero’s journey, the lessons through adversity, and miracle moments that tug at the hearts of our emotions.

There is something we can take away from Attinella’s story in the fact that he saw an opportunity and acted upon it simply by story telling. He didn’t look around to see what else was out there, he didn’t wait until his career was over, he simply figured out a way to start his own business. He’s leveraged his platform to help expand his company with features and collaborations with leading partners across industry.

Jeff has also recently started a podcast with fellow teammate Zarek Valentin that gives an inside look into their journey and insights as professional athletes. Story telling whether to fans or to children, as a professional athlete, sports will grab their attention. Instead of waiting for someone else to tell your story go out and do it on your own.
