Team Frugal: Abby Wambach

Being frugal is about more than being stingy with your money. It means being prudent, smart and economical with your finances and career decisions. Every Tuesday, we share profiles of athletes that exemplify what it means to be A Frugal Athlete.

As an athlete you are able to perform at your peak consistently over the course of a season and career. You have the skillset, determination, discipline, ability to adapt, and instincts to succeed in achieving your goals. You know how to take a loss and learn from it as well as develop a winning mindset. One could assume that athletes by nature are able to apply this to everyday circumstances and life. One athlete that knows this statement to be true is Abby Wambach.

Wambach is a former USWNT forward, World Cup Champion, and Olympian who has channeled her success on the field to a myriad of ventures off it. She is now an activist, brand ambassador, best selling author, and businesswoman. Her latest venture, Wolfpack Endeavor, is a training program revolutionizing leadership development in the corporate space catered to high potential women.

Wambach didn’t always acknowledge her unique situation. She admits that she felt she could have done more during her career to act out on certain issues and even be smarter her with her finances. She’s learned since then and has taken it upon herself to change the narrative for fellow female athletes.
