Welcome to Frugal Athlete

I started Frugal Athlete for the simple fact that I felt that aspiring athletes, fans and individuals alike never really knew the financial decisions athletes go through within their career. It is different looking at a situation from the outside and not knowing why this athlete or that athlete chose to make certain decisions that we may not agree with or understand.

My goal is to share insight from athletes on all levels financially and increase financial literacy amongst the audience.

Throughout my career, I've been the butt of jokes about my frugal tendencies while being a "professional athlete." A career if you're lucky will last anywhere from 3-8 years depending on the sport you play. Some sports less than others. So what are you going to do for the rest of your life? If you follow sports media, you will see the superstars with the fancy homes, fast cars, and lavish jewelry. Or you’ll read about the player that lost it all and you’ll say to yourself “How could someone be so irresponsible, If I had that money I would….” Not every athlete can be or is LeBron James or Cristiano Ronaldo or Tiger Woods. For many of us, we will have to work after our careers are over. I've wondered, what are athletes doing during their careers financially to help ease that transition or put themselves in a situation where they can retire completely after their athletic career.

I wanted to have a platform where athletes like myself could share stories of how and why they've made financial decisions. From investments to purchases to saving to provide for one's family, every athlete has their own playbook. My goal is to share insight from athletes on all levels financially and increase financial literacy amongst the audience who hopefully reads this. This website is meant to give positive exposure and knowledge not only for athletes but individuals who are willing to follow Frugal Athlete.

Please read, share and enjoy!!

It’s the intelligent thing to be frugal.
